help with power steering swap

ok... so im trying tpo put power steering on my 70 GMC. its a short water pump setup. i thought a pump/steeringbox i bought awhile ago was for a short pump arrangement, but obviously something is wrong.

i have spent a fair amount of time searching around for info on this and have read alot of stuff, but probably through some fault of my own i have not come up with a good solution.

ive seen people use a 3 groove crank pulley and an offset 1 or 2 grove PS pulley in some configurations. maybe thats what i need to try to locate?(looked into it some but havent come up with them)

you can see how far off my pulley is from ANYTHING.

this shows the bracket i have a little better. there doesnt seem to be a difference between the pump itself regardless of short or long water pump?!

this is the setup on my 70 c10 parts truck, which has the long water pump.

any help would be appreciated as im getting frustrated. heck i fell asleep infront of the truck in the damn garage last night searching info on this at about 1am... lol. im trying to get this thing together before next weekend... ugh.

Re: help with power steering swap

possibly found one piece

second pic down lists an add on 3rd grove(says it is usable with single or dual grove crank pulleys) supposedly for short pumps with power steering
http://www.alangrovecomponents.com/i...outings_SP.pdf

even if that is right, i still appear to need to come up with an offset PS pulley...

Re: help with power steering swap

This is the correct pulley you need. It's the factory GM part off of a P/S truck with short pump.

With that pulley stacked onto your current lower pulley, your P/S pulley will line up properly without any further mods.
