67 black exterior engine bay pics
I'm looking for pictures of 67's preferably but 68-72 may do as well.. I feel like on a black truck the engine bay is just SO black and there aren't many things to break up or compliment the black besides a fat orange engine inbetween the frame rails so I'm looking for pictures of stock styled and also nonstick engine bays from black trucks just want to see what other guys do to break it up. I'm not much for chrome on engines but I do think black and chrome look good together so let me see what you got!

The contrast between satin black and gloss black is classy. There's not too many options though, unless you're into those color coordinating type vehicles.

Re: 67 black exterior engine bay pics
Here is an original 72 unfortunately it is only part of the bay. However as you pointed out the contrasts really make it over a typical "spray everything black" that many people sadly call a restoration.

A built 72 K10. Just a little different than the stock 72 above.

Re: 67 black exterior engine bay pics
Exactly SSTim! I like the paint scheme my 67 has but I hate to look at the engine bay and just see everything black. But at the same time I like the things GM painted black (radiator support, inner fenders, underside of the hood, brackets pulleys )so I don't want to paint those a grey or anything but then you add the fenders and the firewall black and man just looks a bit odd

Re: 67 black exterior engine bay pics
In a stock configuration there is a lot of different colors no matter the exterior color. In this case even the gloss black of the exterior carried over to the upper fenders and the firewall still frame the engine compartment, just more of a tone on tone than the other colors. The semi-gloss carries the compartment. The engine orange gives a bright spot everything else are details in many different shades or colors. Even the commonly paint hinges and springs make a difference. Its the details that keep it from being a black hole or make it that way if you paint everything the same shade and gloss of black.
Then again if you put nice enough engine in there people might not notice what blacks you used.

Re: 67 black exterior engine bay pics
This is what you want to avoid with a pretty much single color black overspray.
