Chilton
Can anybody tell me how detailed the Chiton manuals for these are? I have a Haynes manual and I HATE it. Some sections are detailed, others tell you to take it to a dealer to have something done. No transmission specs, differential setup specs, but every carb code and spec you never wanted to know is in it!

I bought the Haynes manual first. Thought it was a cheap way out. Your're right, it's worthless. The Chilton's manual is better. It will give you more information, but much of the info is generic for a certain number of years- 80-86 CK Trucks for example. I would recommend you check your local library and check out a copy before you buy it. I found one in ours. I finally decided to spend the 100 bucks and buy the official manual for my year truck. It was well worth the investment.

Manual
I got mine from www.chevyduty.com. For an 86 CK manual it ran about 100 dollars. It also comes with wiring diagrams.

Chilton sucks and Haynes sucks. Look for a real deal GM manual. I just recieved mine last night from ebay. This is what I got...1981 CHEVROLET LIGHT TRUCK Service Manual . I just flipped through it, but it looks very thorough...it has to be though cause its official GM.

Chevy Service Manuals
I've found 2 places to get Factory Service Manuals at. 1 Helm inc. 1-800-782-4356. 2 Faxon 1-800-458-2734. Both are fast.
