67-72 on a 90s chassis anyone done one or seen one?

Like the title says

Got the opportunity to pick up a pretty nice pickup for dirt cheap its a 97 xtra cab 4x4

The IFS up front would make for a nice ride but just wonder if its doable well lets rephrase that how do able it is to drop a 67-72 body on one

I don't know if you know me or some of my background, but I build wrecks and have since the late 80's. Silverado trucks were/are a staple item in my shop. Having had hundreds of the 88-98 trucks down to bare frame rails and having every bolt of these trucks off and in my hands I can say the cab mount and bed mount as well as the core support mounts have to be all taken off and all of the mounting points to the 67-72 truck would have to be fabbed up. the next hurdle and this being the biggest one is the kick up behind the cab on the newer frame is quite pronounced and barely there on the early one so much so that the bed floor would most likely have to be cut out to fit the body lines back up. and im sure we have all seen the vette turned 4x4 so if you got the truck and the skill i say do it a truck body has not changed all that much in 30 years besides the outside skin a little bit of mods on cab and box mounts i bet it would work not ba i got a buddy put a 53 ford body on a 97 dodge frame made it ext cab with suicide doors on the back cost him $20,000 and he has been offered $70,000 and said no so dream it and you can do it

It would be a workable idea if your going to fab a body lift in too.

I will say this in being a K truck instead of a C truck it COULD be considered somewhat easier. With that 4X4 you can figure in some lift point from the frame to make all the sheet metal sit flat. I think the best way would be if you had a two post lift and raised up the cab and front of the 70 truck. Then rolled the frame under the cab and let it down until it just about was where it needed to be then you could see how close it would be to working out the body lift in the middle may have to be the tallest part and then hardly any on the rear end of the back frame rail. If you can picture what I mean by that.There is quite a difference in the frame height between the front box and the rear channel where the bumper mounts go, a big difference. Much more than that of a 67-72 truck but with the fabbed up body lift it would be more possible than doing a 2wd. Jim
