They are actually rust free. I figured them to be a west coast part. I'll put them in the mail today Phillip. Lash

if they are off a '72 I would think that thay would be worth more than $50.00. And If they are, I would be interested also. And willing to give more than $50.00 for them.

3941733 - 4 are the ones on my 71. The #s are the same on both hooks but they turn different directions (go figure~!???) Do yours turn in the same direction? I heard that some of the really rare 72's did turn the same direction.

Brewski*, I have the identical hooks you mention on my 71 4x4. They both turn in opposite directions. They are original hooks but not to my truck. They are a swap meet find. (Best $20 I've spent in a long time !!!) A friend had (just sold it a month ago) a 72 3/4t 4x4 with factory tow hooks on option sheet but they both have a more pronounced 90 degree turn in same direction. These must be the more rare example you mentioned? Only ones like it I have ever seen.

I myself was jokong with Lash.. I have a set like you have and they ARE on my 72. From what Ive seen here on the board over the past few years, they range anywhere from $150 to $250 a set. They are rather hard to find and it is beyond me that someone hasnt done a copy of them. That would be a HOT selling item!:p

I just found the pair that I had on my 72 Jimmy many years ago. I bought them from the dealer and they both face the same way. What are they worth both facing the same direction Thanks Ed ke6bnl

I was thinking about all the quotes about having sets facing the same way. I would think that you must have 2 lefts or 2 rights. On my 72, I have a left and a right. I think if they were both turned in one direction, it would look rather funny. Just my opinion

I've never seen a set of 72 90 degree hooked ones that were turned same direction for some reason. It is possible to bend them what ever way you can with enough heat.. you could make any type 90 degree if you wanted too.

mine all turn 90 degrees but i've had the others too. i don't know if it's a geographic thing or one style was factory and the other was dealer add on ????
Phil, why are yours on backwards, are they 67-68 style ? 69-72 style faces inward--curl toward the back of the truck.

I like the look of them like they are and they are easier to use. ive never had a tow strap come off yet, tho I do have a few extra grills and radiator just in case. :-)
I have been told that the ones I have are older ones than 72 not to mention that they are not on my option sheet. Actually my option sheet says I have a 4 speed and no tilt. A few owners ago must have done some changes. Ive looked at the hooks and if I tried to turn them, I would have to drill new holes. I have yet to try to reverse them but, what the heck, the truck is for sale and they will come off before it leaves. if it dosnt sell soon, Im going to part the truck out and make more $$$. I just want to try to sell it first because I hate to see straight good running trucks get chopped up and sold as parts. In other words, tell your friends to SAVE a 72! and buy this truck soon. One way or another it needs to leave my driveway as my wife has spoken. Her new Log Home isnt a graveyard for my truck habit! That was a quote from her, though Im on 8 acres.
