Putting one of those crates in

Tomorrow pulling old motor out to get ready for new gm 350 motor thanks jegs,
Anything I need to look out for? Also any particular intake carb setup that works best with that motor? Going back with the hei but going to buy a new one.
Appreciate the advice.

I would just say, once you think everything is disconnected and it's ready to come out, lift slowly and check again. Then lift slowly and check again.

Check your cooling system. It's not a bad idea to replace the radiator or at least get it cleaned. Make sure you follow the manufacturer's break-in instructions.

I like the Quadrajet. The GM 350 loves that carburetor. I would consider going with an aftermarket manifold, like an Edelbrock.

Oh I left the part out about there's no fenders and no front end so it should be easy for that.

Re: Putting one of those crates in

I put one in back in December/January. I have a 2701 Edelbrock manifold and started with a Holley TBI. I would not wish a Holley TBI on my worst enemy. I followed the directions to a T, twice, and never could get it running right. I even took it to a mechanic to verify everything was correct. My MPG went from 11 to 7.3. It ran rich as all get out. If I thought it appropriate to curse on this site you would see words on here that would make a sailor blush. I eventually tore that piece of, ahem....,out and put an Edelbrock 1406 on. It now purrs like a kitten.

As far as recommendations to intake and carb, people are going to ask what you want out of the engine. Street rod, daily driver, etc.

Daily driver friendly, this is a budget truck just to get around on my days off, I'm making it ride nice etc. Trucks body isn't going to be show quality but good enough to be a 10 footer!

Re: Putting one of those crates in

I recently installed one of these motors with a performer RPM and 1405 carb. It runs great. I also bought an Ebay special aluminum radiator. No issues so far.

All of these fuel injection systems work once you figure out their quirks. For the most part, the fuel injection system works with a distributor that is setup to not interact and confuse the fuel injection side of the process. Edelbrock, Holley, and even the MSD units have some information somewhere that tells the installer to put the isolation circuits on the dizzy to clean up the electrical signal going to the fuel injection control. The engine will run, but not right until this is done.
