window regulator roller holes
I'm upgrading a 78 Silverado. I ordered replacement rollers and more stuff from LMC. The roller they sent me has a shaft that measures 3/16" and is made to rivet onto the old regulator.
I drilled, ground and punched out the old rollers, and found the hole is 1/4". I found a plastic sleeve that would take up the slack space, but I don't think the rivet will spread enough to make a good tight seal. Anybody got any suggestions? |

Re: window regulator roller holes
A fellow rebuilder welded them for me.
We had to be careful not to melt the plastic roller. |

Not trying to be a jerk, but I wouldn't call replacing original even worn out original parts with LMC parts an upgrade. There is enough of these trucks out there you should be able to find good used parts.

Re: window regulator roller holes
I just centered them in the hole and spot welded them in place. A MIG welder will eat up a gap that small without trouble. Do it quick and spray it with compressed air afterwards to keep the rollers from getting too hot and melting. My rollers came from O Reillys but I'm sure they're the same Dorman brand ones everybody sells.

My upgrade includes replacing the dash lens, dash bezel, door panels and hardware, arm rests, window trim and felts, and other interior parts; and refurbishing the vent windows. And I need a right front outer fender and inner fender; and battery holder. I am always interested in finding new sources of supply. My local O'Reillys only had a package of three assorted rollers; only one of the three looked like it would work. |
