70 gmc swb

I acquired a 70 GMC from a young lad a couple years ago for a good price. A lot of work had been done to it but, unfortunately, he and whoever helped him lacked a bit in mechanical know how. Anyway, to shorten this up Original 307 with an old Edelbrock Streetmaster intake, new Edelbrock 600 CFM, headers, 3 speed floorshift, Flowmaster style 21/2 in. exhaust, and lowered about 4 in. Fat tires on wide chrome wheels. All this done by the previous owner. Then he painted the truck flat black.... EVERYTHING! Windows, wheels, chrome. Anyway, after fixing, stripping, rewiring, and bolting down loose things, I've been driving the truck. That is until the clutch went away. This was last summer. Now I'm almost ready to start on it again. Fuel tank behind rear axle, Monza bucket seats, new bed floor, and a built .060 over 350. I want to use a T-5 tranny and I know the drive shaft has to be shortened. My question is can I install a one piece driveshaft (shortened of course) and if so what clearance problems would this present? Also, I plan on I installing a power steering box out of a 78 Impala. Will it fit? This beasty will be my shop truck for a while after he's finished so nothing is locked in concrete....yet.

Re: 70 gmc swb

Don't think the steering box will work. Need one from a 73-87 pickup.
