Does the TEMP light work on gauge trucks?
Subject line says it all. I still have the idiot light in my fuel gauge, along with BRAKE (which does work). It does not light up while cranking as the BRAKE light does.
If it does work, there's only one sensor and it's a gauge sensor, so there'd have to be some kind of circuit to figure out when to turn it on (unless it just glows as sensor resistance drops, no idea).

Re: Does the TEMP light work on gauge trucks?
No, the TEMP light was not originally functional in the gauge clusters.
I believe the provision for the TEMP light is present simply due to parts compatibility ... it allows the same fuel gauge assembly to fit both the gauge and warning light clusters. And the printed circuit has traces leading to that light location for compatibility reasons as well. That allows the printed circuit to fit medium duty truck clusters that have TANDEM LOCK and OVERSPEED or LOW VACUUM lights instead of BRAKE and TEMP lights in the fuel gauge assembly. |
