Mirror Mounting
Whoever painted my truck before I got it put the mirror screws in and then painted over them.
20+ years later and there was no way a Phillips screwdriver was going to get those things out, so I drilled the heads off. When the last head was drilled, the plate with the nuts attached to it (that I didn't know existed) fell to the bottom of the door. That's going to be fun putting them back up where they belong, and then trying to screw the mirrors on at the same time. ![]() Think I'll put a thin wire through two of the screw holes and try to pull that plate into place, then try to hold it there with an Allen wrench or something through one of the holes, while I attempt to thread a screw in. Anyone have a suggestion or procedure that might work out better? ![]() ![]() |

Re: Mirror Mounting
When I put my mirrors on, the backing plates were missing. I went to the hardware store and bought 6 nuts and lock washers and 6 oversized washers. With the help of a second person we bolted the mirrors to the doors and they havent budged an inch since. It helps to have someone with smaller arms/hands to get into the door though hahah

Re: Mirror Mounting
I used a little permatex on mine, glued them in so it would be easier to take the mirrors off if I ever need to. It's a pain holding those suckers in while mounting a mirror, by yourself anyway.
