My 1967 Chevy Build.. So far
So this is Susan, (she got her name from a ccr song). Susan is a 67 Chevy 1/2 ton. Originally equipped with a big back window, factory A/C, 327 V8. My dad learned how to drive in his uncles 1969 GMC Sierra 910 Custom Classic, and he inherited it so i grew up with it too. His doesn't run but its like a week from being finished(full resto.. only took him 20 years.. i am 19). Dad had a heart attack and is very lucky to be alive after a month long coma and tons of complications. He decided that he wanted another project sort of a father son bonding type deal. We found this gem on craigslist two months later. During the test drive my dad roasted those cooper cobras all the way down the street and i knew we were gonna be taking her home. The tailgate and passenger door were replaced the previous owner said they were dented and all messed up and he painted the hood my favorite color cause he planned on painting the whole truck that color and i do too.
We rattle canned it all black we were on a budget. She came with a mildy built 350 th350 combo. I got some rally wheels painted them to match,s found some nice caps and beauty rings put new ball joints, tie rod ends, and a pitman arm and cut the springs down two coils and left the heated springs in the back. The fronts where heated as well and it was like a boat not any better with cut springs but for now she looks how i want her to. I mean i am just a kid but i love the old school hot rodding idea so that's why i got the wheels i did and i left the rake the way it was. What do you all think so far? Over this summer i plan to put in new floor pans and rockers and get a new rear end in it at least I am a learning mechanic but i learn fast and am very confident (i just put in a new heater core faster than my dad thought was possible lol and it doesnt leak!) Any ways thanks for reading i am always on here for help and just decided to finally join the party with an account! |

Wish your dad's story was a bit different... But at least he made it and you guys have the father son build. Good start for a truck probably better then mine haha look forward to seeing more progress. From one younger guy to another you should be just fine, these trucks are super simple you'll find your way. WELCOME!

Yeah that's a great build, what ever you do don't let that thing get away from you as time passes it will mean more and more to you.
That's one of the best truck builds, a father and son. |
