my turn signals work, but....

not excactly how i expected...

the left rear works perfect, the left front isnt flashing at all (need to check the bulb), the right front works perfect, and the right rear FLASHES perfect.....out of the back up light!!! any ideas what would make it flash out of the back up light? my brake lights dont work at the moment (hacked wiring to the switch), so i cant check with that, and for some reason i dont have taillights. my wires were cut so i put spade connectors on them, and i tried unplugging each wire one at a time and the only way it would flash was through the back up light.

while im on the electrical thing, how can i wire my cab lights to come on with the headlights?

You might have a short in the Turn Signal Switch Assembly in the steering column. They are obtainable from any of the vendors in a repop. The original wasn't any better in quality and the old ones from a junker will go bad in a hurry.
This assumes you already checked for shorts and voltage at the tail lights and front marker lights, cleaned all your sockets and checked the bulbs for continuity.

Josh, tracing electrical problems is really pretty easy if you have the right tools to do it. Get yourself a Volt/Ohm meter from Radio shack - they are real cheap and last a long time if used correctly. I will help you trace out the harness etc. I have several used harnesses as well as some good rear wiring setups. The only way the backup light can flash when you put on the turn signals is if you have the wires crossed somewhere. Not uncommon with 30+ year old truck that have been screwed around for trailer lights etc. It also helps to have a wiring diagram out of one of the truck shop books----every wire is color coded but there are some that are duplicated so you kind of got to know what goes from where to where.

As for your cab lights, there is a terminal in your fuse block that is hot only when your parking lights are on.
It is the one that is not labeled just under the fuel guage. Just plug your lights into this one and you should be good to go.
That is where I have all my acc guages wired to.

have to get some wire and do those cab lights later on, now that i know where i can hook the gauge lights (for the sunpros) up so there not always on.. looked angain just a few minutes ago in the light and i DO have the turn signal hooked up the backup light, but it wont work hooked up the the taillight.. time to check the back of the socket and try the known good bulb from the left... ill have this thing at your house one way or another huck!!!!
