Covered a bunch of times in the electrical section, probably also in the FAQ's section.
Schematic's are posted allover Also open the advanced search and type in key words.

I did mine. All I did was remove the regulator. Removed all wires from the harness that were no longer used and hook up the single 10 gauge wire to the single post on the alt. works flawless. I love one wire alts. Use them on all my old cars

There is some really good reading here on one wire alternators as well as other electrical stuff. BTW if you have a charging light it will no longer work with a one-wire alternator.

Re: Who's the authority on one wire alternator conversion
I vote to NOT do the 1-wire swap and instead set up your charging system for the proper remote voltage sensing as Mark Hamilton discusses on his site. I go a little further with my 4ga upgrade to handle multiple high powered loads that even an SI charging system isn't designed to handle very well. It has more to do with the way GM ran their wiring which lends itself to huge voltage drop issues as well as older SI alternator designs having relatively slow reacting "window times" with regards to how fast the regulator stabilizes the system voltage whenever a load is placed on the circuit-hitting a window switch, electric fan turning on via a relay, etc. Mark and I have discussed a variety of topics from time to time about it over the phone....great guy to talk with!
