Question Is it true or false???

I just had my 350 turbo trans completely rebuilt with shiftkit and Kevlar clutches and red bands also added a 2600 stall,,,
Ok so much for that.
Here's the riddle: is there a boot or some weird seal to stop the speedo from leaking tranny fluid???
I've replaces the bullet and the seal/oring and it still leaks. trans guy the rebuilt it says there a special boot/seal that goes between the bullet and cable that stops this leak,,,, True or False,,,,,,,

What do yall think, is it BS?
thanks
Donnie

Re: Is it true or false???

The speedo bullet has two seals. An outer one (an o-ring) that seals the housing to the tranny bore. And an inner one that seals the speedo gear.
If you don't push the inner one all the way in it will still leak.
When you but a new bullet, most don't have the inner seal pushed in. The manufacturer expects you to know to do that.
Another problem even with the inner seal in proper place is an old speedo gear might have a wear groove in it.

Re: Is it true or false???

my th400 was leaking there after a rebuild so I took it back to the shop and the guy stuck in a new seal in the bullet looking thing and said its a fixer seal that is bigger or something because they are known to leak.

Re: Is it true or false???

The new bullet is supposed to come with one. Might just be a worn driven gear.
Check parts stores or gm dealers.

I took mine to an AAMCO rather than jacking with it. .....had them replace front and rear seals, speedo seals and do a diff fluid change. $260.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
