Intercooler

Anyone have any detailed pictures of 67-72 Intercooler set ups? I've thought about running air to water, I have a second gen cummins I was going to cut 2" off of and notch grille support. Just looking for ideas! Thanks

Re: Intercooler

my solution

uses the second gen radiator and intercooler. mounts in the same fashion as OEM. no mods necessary for off the shelf replacement. very little clearancing on the hood latch to bolt in as original. may require more mods for a condenser or anything else in front.

Re: Intercooler

Thanks for the pictures Ryanroo, i just went through you entire build and love it! Since i have a second gen intercooler and access to a radiator core i think I may get another core support and try something similar. Looks great! Did you keep the center grille support?

No problem.

the center support either fit just fine, or requires a touch of trimming. that will be the thing that limits what goes in front of the I/C. with some sensible mods i think it will be just fine with a condenser and i will run any other coolers i need to off to sides. it has been a while since it was together enough for me to remember. i dont have my condenser yet so i haven't ruined the latch and center support yet...

Re: Intercooler

Ya got the stock radiator 3 core. Got a buddy running a 6bt in a early ramcharger with no fans and no problems. Can drop a aluminum 3 core in it fi it is but don't think it will be.

Re: Intercooler

Joel, looks like a cool build you have going. Do you have a build thread anywhere on it?

Sorry no build thread. Thought about it but I'm so slow most people would lose interest... I've lost interest a few times.

Nonsense! Ryan's thread has been an active(ish) build for like 14 years. Mine is only slightly less. when the progress stops, we resort to telling lies and giving people crap. that is SOP. we need a build thread! there arent many Dmax swaps around!

Re: Intercooler

14yrs, LMAO! It might be 14yrs before it is driven again though......................

You definitely should start a thread Joel. If I can unload some more Cummins stuff, I may sway to a Dmax for one build.
