Thumbs up Complete front brake job under $100.00

My front brakes were toast, so I installed new calipers, new rotors and new brake pads. I was really surprised at how little it cost me. I had just paid to have the this same service done on my van for over $600.00. I choose not to work on the new cars. Here is the break down: $28.00 each new rotor, from a local wrecking yard (Spaldings). 12.00 each new caliper (NAPA), and they warranteed my lifetime brakeshoes (no-charge). $3.00 for fluid. $85.00 for a completely new brake job. Not bad. I was comparing the prices in several parts catalogs, and they couldn't come close this deal. I just had to spread the good news.

Cool, we just did our 69 3/4 ton panel front & rear drums, shoes, wheel cylinders, springs, retainers & seals and the parts alone set us back nearly $600

I was pretty surprised myself about how reasonable the front brakes for my 72 C10 were. In canadian dollars, the front calipers were $17 each, plus a $10 core charge, and rotors were $80. Now the rotors don't seem al that cheap but considering that it cost me $200 each for rear rotors and $120 each for fronts for a 2000 Silverado it's not bad.

FYI For curious Canadians the price on the 72 parts was from Canadian Tire.

I have disc brakes on mine. The PO swapped a disc brake setup from a 73 it appears. I do not know if the rotors are different than those in 71-72, but my rotors were only 20 bucks a piece. I got them at Advanced Auto Parts.

I was pretty amazed that my local NAPA had my rear shoes on the shelf...and at 10 bucks too!
