73/75 and 78/79 doors Question
All,
We have four trucks worth of doors both factory and after market. What I want to know is even after measuring and getting different stats on the doors, what can acually be used. We want to put 78/79 doors on a 73 and 75 cabs and original front clips, will they fit? Most likely it will be a try it and see thing, but trying to work smart not hard concept. Thanks in advance!!!!! Tried FAQ section, nothing coming up.

I have a 74 with 79 doors on it. They function well.

Re: 73/75 and 78/79 doors Question
The external dimensions are the same, so they will bolt up. The shape of the interior sheetmetal is different, and the window regulators are different as well. Use the hardware and trim panels from the 78/79 doors and it will work fine.

Re: 73/75 and 78/79 doors Question
The breakdown is 73-76, 77-87(91)
Original 73-80 GM truck doors are also 1/4" wider across the body line than the 81 up doors, due to the front clip change...so if you put 81 up doors on a 73-80, there will be a slightly wider door/fender gap than what GM delivered off the line.
