I am having a HARD time finding a 67 power steering gear box, mine is leaking like crazy. Everybody I call says, "We have a 66 and a 68 but no 67". Any ideas? There is a place that offered to rebuild it for around $260, but was hoping to find one already rebuilt for less than that.

1967 (or earlier) never came with an integral power steering gear. They had ram assisted power steering, completely different animal. Just buy a power steering gear box from '68 or newer, even 73+ trucks up to 1980 ? (Sometime around there they switched to metric O ring fittings).

68 or earlier used ram assist power steering. The 67 chassis is not dimpled for the integral gear that the 69 up used. WES

Just cut a t in the frame and hammer it in. Test fit the PS box. Weld up the t.
Takes less than an hour. Done use any 68 and up PS Box

Might want to post pics of the current setup so the wizards can see what you have.
You may have a conversion that you can get a rebuilt box for easily, or er, not.

what has to be done to switch mfrom manual to power steering???

What year truck?
If 67 see frame mod above first
If 68-72, acquire a Power steering box
New rag joint
Power steering brackets (2 parts)
Power steering pump and pulley
Crank shaft pulley if yours is not equipped
Hoses: 1 pressure, 1 return
Be aware that you get a matched set of pump / gear / hoses
there are flare style connections and there are o-ring style connections
All work the same but you can't mix them up without having adapters $
Do some searches on the site, someone will have a kit for sale somewhere.

IS THE K-10 FRAME DIFFERENT FROM THE C-10 FRAME ? Because my k-10 67 frame dont have no dimple and the power steering gear box bolts right up, maybe im going crazy???

I saw this at Rock Auto, under steering gear for a 1968 1/2 ton Chevy truck. When you click the link, it says they are rebuilt in the USA. I don't have any experience with them, but the price does not look bad.

I've been told the box is different on 4x4s but I haven't compared them.

I always thought all 67 frames were flat in the steering box area.
Are you sure your frame is a 67? If so do you know the build month/year of your truck?

Frames are different but not in that area. You can shim a 4x4s gear out to bolt on because the pitman arm swings forward and back. On a 2WD the pitman arm swings right to left so centering of the steering gear becomes a problem.

I like it. My 2002 Tahoe is the same ratio so I'm used to it. The earlier ones I believe are 4 1/2 turns.
