Chrome gear shifter is all I see...
'57 Panel, probably a Chevy van tilt wheel column.
Fairly often, smack dab in front of my vision, is the reflection of the chrome gear selector arm. What have you done to cure this? Suggestions? "Only drive on cloudy days" ??

Scotch Brite pad to make it a satin look? You could always paint it with plasti-dip.... you could peel it off if you don't like it. You could take it off and put a floor shifter in.

Drive the roll pin out and pull the handle. Refinish it as sugested or look at Lokar Midnight series shifters.

Re: Chrome gear shifter is all I see...
Good suggestions, guys.
I forgot about "pulling the pin". I was thinking of masking tape, newspaper and a rattle can of flat black. None of which sounded very good. No floor shift, though. I like my roomy, flat floor space, especially after driving my wife's Accord coupe last weekend.

Be cheap - wrap the shifter with black electrical tape

All jokes aside that would let you know if painting the shift handle or dulling the finish would accomplish what you want or you end up seeing the reflection of the taped up handle in the windshield.

Re: Chrome gear shifter is all I see...
After you take the pin out and remove the shift handle run to a wrecking yard and find a smaller arm different shape or angle GM made a bunch of different handles front wheel & rear wheel drive cars. GM's are basically the same at the point where the pin goes in... Don't forget to take the old one to compare! I have a GM Van Tilt and found that a Chevy cavalier handle worked great. I ground down the plastic handle and fitted an after market billet aluminum end to it you can also maybe throw a beer tap handle at the end or skull what ever to the end.

Or wire loom for the carbon fiber look... I used this for my wiring in 1/4 and 1/2 inch side

Re: Chrome gear shifter is all I see...
nverdone and mr48 convinced me to "experiment" with black electrical tape.
If it doesn't give me a clue as to what may work, peeling it off will be easy. Thanks, folks!
