Any front end body panels off a 67 and then pretty much everything from the cowl panel back is the same I believe, except 72 door panels. Someone else will have more info, and anyone else feel free to correct me.

I'm not exactly understanding what you are asking. Do you mean amongst other 67-72 chevy's and gmc's, or amongst other year trucks? Explain what you are looking for as that's a much easier way to narrow it down. In order to give you interchangeability we'd have to brake down ALL parts that have differences. To do that, use keyword "differences" or something similar in a search and that would help you determine what would work.

While the grill would bolt up to the front fenders of a 67, they have no side marker lights. You also have a parking brake pull handle for 67-68 vs. the pedal in 69-72. Search will be your best friend in this case.

Just go to the salvage yard and have them bring up the various parts that you're looking for and have them print out the list of what all that they fit on. They have the Hollanders interchange system that is quite frankly really awesome when it comes to product fitment applications.

GM parts book is a good place to start as there are many options on procuring parts interchangeability from different years

Do you need any steering or frame pieces? I have a 67 parts truck with body cancer but it has all the suspension and drum brakes and I have it on a trailer today to take it to a dismantler. But if you had room for it and are somewhat near to rancho cordova you can have it. Ill deliver it for some gas money.

Would that be work as in "bolts right on," or "can be made to fit with the right adapter / Sawzall work / welding"? The latter opens up a LOT more possibilities.

The 140a cs144 alternator is a sweet & easy bolt in to our v-belt trucks. I know that a 94 caprice 140a alternator bolts in & got two from Northstar-equiped Cadallics that are exactly the same & 140a. There may be others, but those I have personally verified. You need only tweak the bracket a tiny bit & i was able to adjust my fractory bracket by hand. Get the harness plug as well, solder in a resistor & you have a killer alternator.

Re: Pick n Pulls 50% off sale. whats interchangeable at the yard?

Just to generalize and cover this broad question- nearly all chassis parts will interchange- steering included. Steering boxes through 88 will bolt up. Rear ends have slight width differences. E brake is different for 68 and 69+. All seats bolt up 67-72. 88+ seats bolt in with minimal work and varying styles. Good luck with buckets and console in this area, and they require bolt holes drilled. Outside mirrors are different 71+. This is a quick and dirty cover, there's exceptions.

Be on the lookout for tilt columns. I found one out of an old motor home that is a direct bolt in for these trucks for little of nothing. And, pretty much all motor homes are low miles, so the columns are usually like new and tight. It took me about 2 hours to get mine out, but I got it for $35, so I didn't care how long it took..... it was worth it.

I heard about the Pick-N-Pull sale, too. Thought I'd go looking for 6 lug disc brake steelies but I've never been... do I bring my own tools? Jack too?

You need to bring your own tools, but they may not let you in with the jack -- liability issues. At the P&Ps in Kansas City, they use steelies as jack stands so most of the cars are already up in the air.

Thanks. Just read the fine print... wheels and tires are excluded from the sale.

Re: Pick n Pulls 50% off sale. whats interchangeable at the yard?

Bring your own tools. Jacks are not allowed to be brought in the yard (but if you look around, scissor jacks are plentiful ). There are hoists available for use if you lift anything. Wheel/Rim sales occur way more often than 50% off sales, just watch for them. If you want to save 50% all the time, and you are "resourceful", just pull what you are after and stash it somewhere in the yard where nobody will find it...wait for a 50% off day, then go and retrieve it . Nearly every pick n pull in the country is owned by LKQ, and the rules, prices, and sales are universal.

As far as finding good or desireable parts on a 67-72 truck...good luck, lol. Unless you are the first guy there, waiting and watching when the forklift drops the truck onto the makeshift jack stands, the truck will look like a school of piranhas feasted on it The last "good" part I got was a center console out of a 75 Blazer about 5 years ago...truck was third in the row, had been in the yard maybe 15 mins. I hopped in and as I was removing the first bolt, another cat rolled up and was majorly bummed (putting it mildly) that I was pulling it. There were at least a half dozen other dudes that strolled by for a look while I was in it, and would have surely grabbed it if I was not there.
