Re: Still looking for the '71 Gmc
Did you get the 59 running, and not to be an ass but are you going to be able to afford to maintain both of them let alone afford to buy this truck back?

Sorta yes, working on putting the transmission cover on it
You're not being an ass. I'd buy it back if its still around which it should be because nothing was wrong with it

Re: Still looking for the '71 Gmc
What blows my mind is the guy we sold it to, sold it to someone for $1800.. For that price I wouldn't think someone would part it out or so. .It was in nice condition inside and out

For some reason I cannot find the thread on the board, but it looks like it originated from this board. Do you recognize this post? Or was it made by you?

Re: Still looking for the '71 Gmc
I assume this isn't it,
http://www.americandreamcars.com/197...stpkup0709.htm ...but its in NC, same color, different mirrors and some kind of rally wheel. White bumper might have been cheaper than replating the old one.

Re: Still looking for the '71 Gmc
Schrum, Denton is a town of 1600 people give or take. Looking at this logically the odds are NOT in your favor that it's a technology savvy town with people searching the internet and especially not specialist websites. Your best bet is to visit the town, pass out some flyers and maybe hit a lead that way. I don't know the local population but from a Sociologists perspective find out what the major job market is pertaining to trucks, ie: logging or construction, and frequent the supply stores for that market.

...or restored with an LS conversion and asking price of $35k, or frame hacked up, body dropped, firewall smoothed to the point of no return. I would never discourage anyone from such a noble quest. Just sayin'...

Re: Still looking for the '71 Gmc
Well I doubt it ..sure hope not.. if they were smart they wouldn't
It was sold for 1,800 so it wasn't parted out I offered $200 to the guy that had it if he found out information on it

Re: Still looking for the '71 Gmc
If they were "smart" they would be doing whatever it takes to get the truck back on the road. Whether it's stock, dropped, chopped, parted out or any other kind of modifications that the current owner decides to do to it. Anything is better than sitting in a field rotting away.
For the record I think it would be cool if you managed to get it back. |
