Help with ID'ing truck-67 GMC
I picked up a 67 SWB GMC C-10 at Shades of the Past this weekend. Its a running/driving truck that I'm going to clean up a bit and drive around while I'm finishing my 72. The id sticker in the glove box is illegible unfortunately and I find this truck really interesting. Is there a way to decode the vin or any other way to figure out what this truck was from the factory?
It has: Big Back Window Leaf Springs (its a gmc) 307 V8 Th400 (The column shift says PRND21, so it was originally a 3 spd I assume) Buddy Buckets Looks like originally a white truck Blue interior Black dash pad door panels are missing Has the tall emblem on the front fender behind the wheel No side trim I think it has a 68 grille because it doesnt have GMC stamped in it???? Any ideas? I'll work on getting some pictures. My plan is just to clean it up fix a bit of the rot and enjoy the hell out of it. |

. . . .
If you can post some pictures of what you have, we can probably help with all of your questions. ( including that grill ) ( The Turbo Hydromatic 400 IS a 3 speed transmission, usually with larger engines then the 307, I thought ) The VIN information below, is for a NON Canadian built GMC: . . . . |

Re: Help with ID'ing truck-67 GMC
Thanks. The first part of the vin is CS1570DPC
So it is originally 2wd, I-6, 1/2 ton, shortbed, wideside, built in Pontiac, 1967 So someone swapped in the 307 and the 400. I'm going to try to grab some numbers off those and see what they are. I still find it interesting that the truck appears to have the deluxe interior on an otherwise base model pickup. |

Re: Help with ID'ing truck-67 GMC
So I got the numbers off the engine since it wasnt original hoping maybe it was a 350! but nope, it is a 1968 307 from a B-body. Oh well, it still runs!
So at the moment I am looking for a 4 barrel manifold on the cheap and driver quality tailgate. I'm getting a bed floor from a friend and I'm still out on whether or not I'll repair or replace the driver bedside. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
