Transmission ?

My 87 700r4 is puking fluid out on to my driveway when parked (doesnt leak while driving) and it is whining really bad while driving. So I have decided to attempt a rebuild on it. (1st time to rebuild a transmission so wish me luck) I am going to put a used transmission in the truck while I am rebuilding the old one but I am not sure which years will work for me.

Can anyone please help me out with this?

Re: Transmission ?

Up to '91 I believe. Just make sure it has a kickdown cable and not the large electrical plug instead.

Actually a 700r4 has a tv cable not a kickdown cable and if the tv cable isn't hooked up properly it will burn out the tranny in no time. I would put a th350 or th400 before I put in a 700r4.

Re: Transmission ?

Same thing. Technically not but you knew what I was talking about. If I said Freon instead of 134a you would know I meant refrigerant.
