Limited Edition K10?
I remember a while back someone posted a thread on a Blazer that had one weird paint / sticker scheme. It had brown, orange, gold, etc. stripes all over it, and it was some kind of package. If I remember correctly, there was a pic of the ad posted. I just ran across this K10 on www.cars-on-line.com , and it appears to be the same kind of thing. Anyone know if this is a factory or dealer option, or just someone with one heckuva imagination?

Oh....it's listed as a 1970 6-cyl tree-speed, but no other details. Pic 3.

kinda funny that it has the special decals, but its a stepside...
i remember a Jeep pickup package like that from back in the 70's, it had outlandish (yet good looking) designs like that too, called the Honcho I believe.

That truck just has one of the custom paint schemes that were popular on vans in the late 70's early 80's. There were quite a few manufactured in the Texas area around that time with names like Classic Vans or Good Times Vans and Executive Conversions. They also did some trick paint on trucks and sold as a conversion package as a cowboy Cadilliac. They were not as popular as the conversion vans but a lot were sold. I had a job delivering those to dealers all over the states. They are not decals and are not associated with GM. The one's in the pictures on the brochure's are decals that were offered by GM as special package. Have fun

6 cyl, 3 spd
The 6 cylinder, 3 speed short/step was basically a no option, as cheap as you can buy it truck. A lot of states bought them for their highway depts. I think the armed services bought them too. I have one sort of for sale up here in Wi. that was an Arkansas state Hwy truck. $2K or best..........Zoomy

Zoomy, speaking of a no-option truck, remember a while back when everyone was posting who had the most options on their stickers, and then the least optioned contest came up? I saw a '71 LWB 2WD this week that had 2 options. Vinly black interior and red paint (624 maybe? or is that hugger orange?). Anyway, the sticker had 2 options. Could be the leader.

The paint job, not decals/stickers, is truly a relic, or someone is reliving his/her past.
For those who are old enough to remember, you'll recall when the gov'mint re-rated horsepower ratings for 72 and up, going to SAE net, not gross horsepower ratings. Then, in '73, a number of new body styles were introduced. Add a generous dose of Arab Oil Embargo, and suddenly, we were handed a huge dose of "gotta improve the gas mileage". Enter the Honda CVCC engine and the VW Rabbit, among others. The only thing left for automotive "interests" was to doll up what we were driving. That's when porthole windows in LTD's showed up, along with a boatload of carlot paint tricks to entice people to buy vehicles that otherwise didn't have any appeal at all. Big cars, full-size trucks and vans just didn't get good gas mileage, so dressing them up was the method of baiting you to come in an buy one. Actually, that truck looks good, compared to a bunch of what I remember.
