Power Brake pedal pad reproduced?
Well this eBay auction sent me looking all over to find who is selling a reproduction PB pad. According to this auction the seller states it is was a high quality correct reproduction. I bid this one up but didn't get it and didn't want to feel stupid when one of the vendors would be selling them now for $10. I didn't think these would be hard to reproduce for someone.

Re: Power Brake pedal pad reproduced?
I was the winning bidder, I've only seen one on ebay and only 2 in person and none where as nice. I did pay alot, but oh well. It's crazy that this era of truck doesn't get the spot light as other era, only the high priced hard to find parts!!!

I knew you were all over this Winston so I never bid on it but I thought the same thing, who is reproducing them.

Re: Power Brake pedal pad reproduced?
I woiuldn't be surprised if it was the ebay seller that is reproducing these... if he only lists one every several weeks he gets top $$ for a part that probably should sell for around $10 or less..
according to the feedback he has sold 8 of them in the last month for an average of $60 a piece...

Re: Power Brake pedal pad reproduced?
Apparently pwrbrkpadguy, who ttt'ed this thread earlier today, is the eBay seller as well. The listing for the pad, which has ended, is from the same location as his signature.
I saw this listing, but it is not correct (even though the description says it is). Not mine. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/200953108121?...84.m1438.l2649 Greg.

Re: Power Brake pedal pad reproduced?
Yeah I had eBay contacted him after the first auction and he replied he is making them. I've got it figured out and it looks good for a driver and does fill the void for a quality 3 foot look replacement. I've been bidding on a few of them but haven't bought one yet as maybe they will actually be a one piece molded rubber reproduction one day and heck for now I can use one of my slightly worn edge originals for that survivor look.

if a big company produced a few thousand of these I would expect the price to be a lot lower, but one guy doing this on his own, there are tooling and production costs to consider, and it can't be cheap to get an operation like this off the ground. I do appreciate that you are reproducing these, the big companies did not feel the need, and they should have, as many people customize their trucks with aftermarket power brakes, and this pad would be a great addition for a truck like that too.

Yeah, but $60 or more for a rubber pad? Come on now. Come back down to earth.

Re: Power Brake pedal pad reproduced?
How long would it take me to make one?
An hour? Does anyone know how much an hour an electrician or plumber charge? I think for what he is doing, I can see it costing easily $50. Maybe after some time he can charge less, but upfront he needs to recover some of his startup cost.

Re: Power Brake pedal pad reproduced?
Thank you for the defence Lost. I won't ever recoupe my cost for equipment, long hours, ruined materials, shop improvement, shredded nerves.I do enjoy some type of contribution to our trucks and this is my way of doing it. As far as ebay goes, I didn't bid them up. In fact some went for so much that I cut a deal to give them extra pads.I am a fair man and I don't think I ever cheated anyone. Thanks again for your kindness Mike.

Re: Power Brake pedal pad reproduced?
That is exactly what I would say if I was selling rubber pads for $50. More power to you if you can get people to buy it. I was more talking about those who buy, not those who sell. It's funny what some people are willing to pay, especially for a repop part. Keep it up my friend. I hope you make it worth your while.

If the guy is making them available at a price he can afford to sell them at, I see no reason to rip on the dude just because it's more than you're up to paying. The funny thing is, Captains brackets are small pieces of bent steel with holes drilled in it, and people have no problem spending $60. That's what it costs him, and it saves us the work of making our own. . I'm not trying to get pissy, I just think there are some that appreciate the availability of this brake pad, and I see no reason to discourage those who attempt to make a rare part available. . Obviously there's an interest.

Re: Power Brake pedal pad reproduced?
Now that I see what he is selling them for to us, good on him. It's not his fault people bid that much. Now if someone can start making 1963 hubcaps..........

Re: Power Brake pedal pad reproduced?
Just a little extra info about these pads. This is a high strength hot vulcanized process for bonding rubber. The high quality brake pedal pad has been designed and tested to not separate, but in fact to tear at a different location other than at the logo. The power brake logo is also recessed deeper in the pad to avoid premature wear. Therefore the K and E will not be the first to wear off like the originals. Thank you.
