Stall converters
I am a fan of stall converters when I do tranny rebuilds. The stock stall is roughly 1600 rpm. If I got to a 2000 rpm stall would that be a bad idea for a little more pick up on the street?
My truck is a 74 K20 with a stock 350 with a few bolt ons, 10 bolt front, 14 bolt SF with 3.42 gears, and 265/75/16 AT tires. I think my tranny slips a bit, and would like to have it rebuilt when I swap transfer cases. Plus it leaks a bit, and I added Lucas stop leak to see if it helps. |

Re: Stall converters
what transfer case are you going to? and what are your plans for the truck? is it a daily driver? are you ever going to go 4 wheeling in it?

Re: Stall converters
I have the 203 transfer case with a part time kit.
My DD is a work provided van so it will be used mostly to putt around town as necessary, and for road trips to go fishing. As for wheeling I do not plan to do anything hard core as, but just want to be able to explore around with out worries of getting stuck to easily. Plus around a few fishing holes I have gotten stuck in soft silt like sand. That truck was lowered 4/6 to 5/7 which did not help, but had wide tires that just sunk. |
