Door weatherstrip problems
I installed the door weatherstripping from Precision Restoration and it's too thick. My doors won't shut
Someone recommended Steele rubber part# 70-0331-73, this is slightly smaller but cost a lot more $120 vs $30 that I paid for the Precision kit Any other recommendations? Anyone use this Steele part #? I don't mind paying the price if I know it will fit. |

Re: Door weatherstrip problems
AD or TF?
If TF, you may have it installed backward. If it looks like its in right, it's almost certainly not.

Re: Door weatherstrip problems
It's a '51 AD and I'm pretty sure I got it installed correctly. The large side is facing out, I watched a good "how to" video before installing.
The piece I installed measures the same as Steele part# 70-0145-73. If you compare the 2 they are just slightly different. |

Re: Door weatherstrip problems
I had the exact same problem. Doors would not latch properly no matter how I installed the rubber. I ended up taking a razor blade knife and cutting the rubber in half and reattaching it. my doors still are very tight which makes the latches very difficult to open. I was hoping it would loosen up after a year, but all I did was damage the latch handle.

Re: Door weatherstrip problems
I got mine from Classic Ind. Same problem. You would think a company would do a little R & D before putting their name on something... Stupid.
Anyways. I think I'm going to try Patricks. They know about the fitment issues with other stripings, and claim to have one the fits right, for about $25. |

"Steel Rubber all the way! "
I know Steele rubber makes good products I am asking about the different sizes of weatherstripping and what other people have used "I got mine from Classic Ind. Same problem, I think I'm going to try Patricks" What is Patricks? |

Patricks: http://www.patricksantiquecars.com/chevy_parts.html
Great source for specific AD parts. Scroll down about half way through the products to see the weather strip. While your on the site, order a catalog. It has good info about 12V conversions, and engine ID's |

Re: Door weatherstrip problems
Hogger54, thanks for the info. I called them and they said it comes from Classic Parts.
That's where I ordered mine from, it's made by Precision Restoration and didn't fit. |
