Ligenfelter crank trigger conversion
http://www.lingenfelter.com/mm5/merc...3#.VCswFsu9KSM
Why would you need to run this on a swap? I see what it is for but if your are running a stock gm ECM that would negat the need for the conversion box correct? I'm assuming this is for someone running a 4.8 on a 5.3 ECM or vice versa? |

Re: Ligenfelter crank trigger conversion
That's what I thought. I'm currently doing a lq9/4l80 swap on mine. I was looking at a buddies 74 jeep that he did the 5.3/4l65 swap on and he was running that. But he is using stock management so just kinda made me think why? He had a shop do it and they told him he needed it.

Re: Ligenfelter crank trigger conversion
i was following a thread on HPT forums where it looks like they were gonna add code to make the switch in the OS, but it dead-ended.
about your buddies swap: i dunno why they wanted the box. maybe they needed to make a DBC OS work? I met a local guy that did just that…but he was getting ready to swap reluctors b/c the lingenfelter box was a turd. Caused multiple fails per week in his 5.3 swapped toyota wagon. |

Re: Ligenfelter crank trigger conversion
There are no DBC Gen4 applications, so if he was running a 2008-up 5.3, and wanted to run DBC, that's why they used it, hes running a Gen3 PCM with a DBC tune. You cannot tune the DBW out of the newer ECMs.

Re: Ligenfelter crank trigger conversion
so the takeaway here is if you have gen4 and want to do a DBC, the best fix is to change the reluctor wheel.
correct me if i'm wrong. thanks. |
