18x12 Wheels fit on stock wheel tubs?

Trying to decide drop and wheels. I like the 4/6 that had on my 91 that I daily drove for 10 years. Not daily driving anymore with the 71' but would be a weekend cruiser so comfort is still important. I like the deep dish wide back wheel look. Im on the fence with either 18x9.5 or 18x11.5. I am looking at the Boss 338 and Raceline Executive. There is quite a cost difference but if I can get away with 11.5 wide wheels in a stock stepside bed with 335/30/18 I'm going to go for it. I would consider the executive wheels if no modifications are required. Otherwise I might just go with Boss 338 and do what I did with the 91' and run the continental DWS 295/35/18.

Let me know who has experience or can find a thread to help.

Thank you

Ulysses

Re: 18x12 Wheels fit on stock wheel tubs?

I'm subscribed just hear the experts. But from what I've learned on this forum the 11.5s won't fit a Stepside without tubbing and corrected backspacing. I would love to put that much wheel and tire under my stepper, but not ready to tub it.

Re: 18x12 Wheels fit on stock wheel tubs?

My personal opinion is a 11 1/2 wide wheel won't fit a step side without sticking out of the side of the fender or a mini tub. My fender is about 11" wide and I'm running a 22x9 wheel with a 265/40/22 tire. I hope this helps.

Re: 18x12 Wheels fit on stock wheel tubs?

Thanks guys. I got home earlier and took some dimensions. Found out that I only really have 11" as said and maybe 11.5 if I do some modifications to the fender which I wont likely do unless completely necessary. Didn't realize I had such lack of space. Can some one that has a fleetside take some wheel well dimensions.

Thanks
