My new to me time capsule 71 Blazer

Just scored a 74K mile, always garaged 71 Blazer. It's quite a jewel.

Question for the board members. As you can see, there are minimal issues with the original seat covers, but I do need one seat bottom. I want to keep it all original, but can't seem to find seat covers for the base model low back buckets. An leads on where I can fine some?

thanks,

Keith

The foam is all good. Just some snags in the drivers seat bottom. That is why I want to find matching covers. So that I can leave the lions share of the covers alone and just replace the bad seat bottom.

I will for sure get more pics up. Probably will take them when I get rid of the ugly wheels, tires and steering wheel.

Welcome - very cool Blazer - more pics are definitely needed. Would enjoy seeing the engine bay and a lot more of the the interior.

Were yours the same lowback buckets? If so, then yes I could use that. That would be very helpful. Thanks.

Yes, mine are utility buckets. I had to buy 3 yards at the time, let me check the repeat on the pattern to see if there is enough. You re going to have wear on your seat backs, so this being new, dunno how it will match up......sorta like trying to blend paint on a fender

Also, i have to check the width of the pattern......

You can see the seats in my build thread

Re: My new to me time capsule 71 Blazer

As Jim points out what you have are called utility bucket seats. As far as I know the seat covers are not mass produced. But as others have stated board member Truckseats makes reproduction seat covers, it's very possible he could make some for your utility buckets.

Re: My new to me time capsule 71 Blazer

SMS fabrics might have the original material then take it to a good upholstery shop. That's what I did with my utility buckets. Good luck

Re: My new to me time capsule 71 Blazer

Thanks for all the helpful responses. I will definitely post more pics, but want to do a few things that are left undone. New rubber floor mat, change the steering wheel, stock steel wheels with hubcaps and 33X10.50's. Also it has a really funky sticker of a deer on the drivers door. Got to get that off.

Harrah is south of Yakima. I farm hops for a living there. The blazer actually came from closer to your area. I made the trip up to Mercer Island this weekend and bought it.

Re: My new to me time capsule 71 Blazer

Sorry bud, but not enough seat bottom to help you out, more seat back than bottom.....
I bought mine from SMS, hopefully they will still have some, or make it

They are slow to act, but did stand behind they re product to resolve issues. Make sure you order seat bottom matrl. as you can see the mechanical embossing is differant

Re: My new to me time capsule 71 Blazer

Sorry for the delay adding more pics. Been a busy few weeks. Also, sorry about the quality. Not sure what happened with my camera. Since I bought it I have added my tilt and stock steering wheel. Also added a set of 72 16X5 factory steelies and some 235/85/R16 Hercules mudders. Soon to come, a white sport rear bumper and an add a leaf for the rear springs to level it out.

Nice! My K5 was originally Ochre. The PO painted it blue. I'm thinking hard about going back to Ochre with a white top. It's that or Medium Olive. I'm not feeling the Blue.

Medium Olive was the color I wanted, but when I found this one I knew I wouldn't find a cleaner one, so I took it home.

Looks awesome...What are the tires? They look great. I really struggled picking tires. I think I would have been very happy with what you picked. Looks very period in the pics.

235/85/R16 Hurcules M/T's. I have a couple of sets of them. Very reasonably priced. Only drawback I have seen is they pick up rocks quite a bit.
