Need more info guys
Had another forum member give me some info on a GMC suburban
he is thinking of selling and curious what the options were for static drop on the rear and how low I could get it with the leaf springs or can I convert to trailing arms with coils? what about swapping the body to a C10 chassis? |

Re: Need more info guys
Basically the same applies to the burbs and panel that applies to trucks. Only difference is the rear drop might be a little lower then what is advertised for a truck (i.e. 4" drop for a truck might be closer to 5" on a burb/panel due to more weight in the rear).
As for a frame swap, the rear part of the frame is different. It steps down where a truck is straight. Also burbs/panels are setup for rear gas tank.

Re: Need more info guys
With leaf springs, you need to be careful how many leafs you remove or you will have bad axle wrap. You can also move the differential to above the springs, but this gives you a lot of drop.....around 5-6". A longer shackle will only lower the ride height about 1/2 as much as the increase in lengthen of the shackle.
If you want to convert to trailing arms and coils, just keep the original frame and install the necessary parts.
