new member and lots of questions

I picked up a 59 Apache. has a 427 with a 4 speed. AWESOME little truck and couldnt be more happy with it. all straight body. i would like to put air ride on it but when i was looking at the frame i notice it was a straight axle up front. naturally i was bummed.. i started thinking could i swap the body to a S10 frame? i know a friend who has one cheep that is already bagged and it would upgrade my brakes. any thoughts? any other solutions?

Mustang 2 ifs with bags is an much easier solution

I'd think adding an independent suspension front crossmember and a rear suspension set up for bags on your frame would make a lot better truck in the end than cobbling an S-10 Chassis under it. The S-10 swap works on the smaller AD trucks fairly well but on a TF the wheels and tires are going to be lost in the wheel wells and end up looking more than a bit wrong.

yes but with the wheel wells i can add rims with a larger lip on them.

I recommend doing a search on the forum for "59 Apache frame swap" (There's a search function at the top). I think you'll find mr48 is correct. the time and money investment to get a s10 frame to work, its a better path to install an ifs and rear suspension suited for your truck.

i have no doubt that i could fit a mack frame under my 58
it would take a lot of work and the finished product might not be to my liking
if you want a s10 frame under your task force truck
it would take a lot of work and the finished product might not be to your liking


why sign up for a truck forum and (on your 2nd post) not even consider the advise given?
do some reading of finished builds on this forum, the s10 is not a good frame swap candidate for a task force truck
and imo the best frame for your truck with the least amount of work and cost is the one that gm made it on

i wasnt saying it was a bad idea i was simply stating it would make for large wheels. im open to all advice. if its not going to work then thanks for the advice before i go out and get a rolling frame. ive looked for this thread both have you have talked about and i cant find it.

That was kind of the point of telling you to do a search. Didn't want to say it couldn't be done, but if it was viable, it would be on the forum. Since you couldn't find any info, its probably not very viable. So i went back to your original post, and you said you were happy with your truck, so take a step back and ask yourself what do you want with your truck, what's the endgame? That will tell you what direction to go in. And take Ogre's advice and research the builds, its a wealth of knowledge. From a taskforce standpoint there's a write up from a nice lady, Denae, that was great from an information point of view. If you want to see totally crazy cool look up "Big Bertha". Yeah its a cab forward but still cool...and of course all the builds in between. That should give you a few ideas on how to make your truck, your truck.

I have an S10 rear under my TF truck just to temporarily move it. It is waaaay too narrow!
