1967 swb/stepside daily driver

Have wanted to build a 67 small window, swb, stepside for the last 15 years or so. After looking for the last couple years, I found a good deal on a truck that was a basket case.
This is going to be my daily driver when finished. Have been working on the truck and collecting parts for a little over a year now.

I know everyone loves pics.

Here is the truck getting picked up

Stripped it down to the frame. The frame was in real good shape with just a little surface rust.

striped it down and sand blasted everything. used the harbor freight 110# sand blaster...you can see it in the pics.

painted everything with Eastwoods epoxy primer and 2k ceramic chassis black.

for the rear suspension i went with the ece 6" drop springs, shock relocaters and there super track bar. also put new polly bushings in the track bars.

rebuilt the front suspension with all new moog ball joints, a-arm bushings and tie tod ends inner and outer. converted to front to disc brakes with the ece 2 1/2" drop spindles and 1 1/2" drop springs.
suspension all done with the ece 4/6 drop. 15x8 wheel vintiques corvette rally wheels with 275/60-15 all around.

for the engine and tranny i wanted to use the 250 and a 5 speed from an s10. got the engine running to make sure everything was ok...started right up and sounded good after sitting for 10 years in a field and the last 10 years in a garage. after taking it apart to change all the gaskets i found out there was alot of rust inside the engine. the oil had the rust all through it and after running it for a good bit it was all through the engine. i am on a low budget and can not afford to get it rebuilt so i went in a different direction.
had a 305 from a 91 camaro and 700r4 from another project setting in the garage so i decided to just use it. striped all the fuel injection and emission crap off and repainted it and changed over to a carb.

installed the engine and tranny and got the exhaust made. used hedman shorty headers and 2.5in pipe to summit race mufflers. tried to keep the exhaust as close to the frame as i could.

It's been a wile since i updated this build. The cab that came on the truck was shot. The roof was rusted through on the inside and outside. Found another cab in a lot better shape. It was sand blasted and in primer but the sandblasting worped some of the sheet medal. Just some more body work.

one of the rear cab braces was missing so welded in a replacement and sprayed the underside with Raptor bed liner.

A good friend of mine has a collision repair shop and offered to heip me paint it. After getting the cab and doors ready for paint i now understand why it cost's so much to get something painted. It was alot of block sanding to get this body straight again.

Sprayed the Raptor bed liner on the inside of the floor and under the dash to help seal from leakes.

Went with Tanger orange in base coat clear coat.

Mounted cab to the frame and put the doors back on and got to bring it home. It is starting to look like a truck again.

Tinted the rear window with 2.5% limo tint.

While the front end is off now is the time to finish up the engine compartment. Restored the heater box and put in a new heater core, radiator, hoses, trans cooler.

The truck had a 250 six in it so the stock manual linkage was to short. Got 2 rod ends and some allthread and made a new one.
