Selling my 71 C10

The time has come for me to sell my 71 c10. I need a more fuel effiecent vehicle. I drive 60 miles a day on part time pay. 13 mpg is getting old. I would like to know what you guys value this truck at. I have $5000 in it between upgrades and the vehicle I traded it for. Here is the info.

It has a 350 out of an 81 Camaro with a newer rebuild. The engine has an Edlebrock Performer EPS intake with new Demon 625 cfm carburetor, a MSD ready to run HEI, MSD 6a ignition box, Autolite 8mm wires, NGK V-Power plugs, Fan clutch upgrade, and full length Hedman Headers. It also has a custom true dual exhaust with Thrush mufflers. This motor pulls hard when you get on it.

The truck has 3-speed manual on the floor with new throw-out bearing and new Lokar naghahyde and stainless shifter boot. It shifts smoothly. The interior also has bucket seat out of a 3 gen F-body. They fit me better and the seat it had was destroyed. The glove box door is custom painted and it will switch out with a plain gloss black door.

The headlights have been upgraded to ZXE 9003 headlights. They are NOT those horrible blue lights. They are a very bright white light. They can also be brighter if the truck is upgraded with a relay mod. I haven't done it since I don't see a need for it.

The chassis has been lower with CPP 2.5 in drop spindles in the front and 4 in drop springs in the rear. There are DJM drop shocks at all corners. The wheels are new Wheel Vintqic 12 series smoothies measuring 15x8 all around. They are wrapped in new Hankooks in the front and new Yokohamas in the rear.

The body is straight but has the typical rust for this year and model. I have a front right fender I would throw in for the right price. I have left the truck in primer so far to go with the sleeper look. The truck is all about surprising people when they hear it fire up.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Selling my 71 C10

Not to burst your bubble but a truck that isn't painted is hard to market. It would be worth a respray if you can swing it to make is easier to sell but not sure how much of a return you would see. In as is condition people in the know will see the upgrades and parts that have value, but they also know mainstream buyers are not looking for unpainted trucks and lowball as a result. The cut dash and removed HVAC is also going to make people shy away from it. Like I said, sorry if I sound harsh but it's an honest opinion from someone who buys and sells a decent amount of stuff every year.

The HVAC is getting replaced with an upgraded Hot Rod Heater from Summit Racing. I might do a cheap repaint with tractor enamel. It still would not fix the rockers.

Both of those would help a good bit, even if it's only a 10 footer respray it's still color and has a "finished" look to it.

Re: Selling my 71 C10

I did this truck a while back in tractor enamel. It costs about $100 so I might do it again.

Re: Selling my 71 C10

Looks a LOT better! Stick on CL and the board for close to what you have in it and see where it goes. Keep a number in your head as your bottom dollar and be willing to negotiate.

Last truck I sold I got a good bit more than I figured I would, had a guy show up and fall in love with it. You never know when you'll get lucky.

Re: Selling my 71 C10

out my way longbeds can be purchased for $1000 to $1500 running and registered (im talking stock trucks in primer). some may appreciate the upgrades you made but out here if you were asking $5000 you would have a tough time getting it. good luck!

Re: Selling my 71 C10

The truck is also no longer in primer. I'm also getting bids on eBay. At this point I'm just looking for funds to get my next car.
