Headlights not working--help needed

Everything works except for the headlights. Even bought a new switch and still the same. Parking lights work but no headlights. No power to the plug at the core support leading to the headlights. Very strange. Any suggestions? Turn signals, interior light, brake lights, horn; all work! No blown fuses. Grounding issue maybe under the dash? Hopefully someone can point me in the right area. Thanks

Re: Headlights not working--help needed

I was at a cruise in a couple of weeks ago that ended after dark. I started up, turned on the lights and started to pull into the highway when I realized that I had no lights. Panic time, 30 miles from home. I backed up into my parking spot to look for loose wires, fuses, etc. A guy a couple of cars down shouted "Try your dimmer switch!". Hit the switch and the lights came on, problem solved. Give it a try. Brights and dims go thru the switch.

not trying to thread-jack the OP...

is this a common problem for these trucks?
i have a 60 c10 and have no headlights, everything else works, even the bright lights.
i have replaced the dimmer switch, checked both headlights on a battery, and replaced the pig tails...nothing

Re: Headlights not working--help needed

One more for dimmer switch! Both low and high beams run trough that switch.
Pull the plug and check to see if it's loose or dirty. If not, eliminate the switch by jumpering the wires at the plug. CaREFULLY.

Three wires going into your switch
Blue , that's the supply from your light switch.
Tan , low beam
Green , high beam

Use alligator clips or wire (stripped back just enough to go into the plug) to jump the blue and tan wires together.
Now pull on your light switch.
If your lights come on, it's your dimmer switch.

I'd bet money that's what it is, but not real money. I ain't got none!

I'm in the same boat, everything works, except headlights. Probably the dimmer, I haven't done the trouble shooting yet. Common enough, I suppose.

Re: Headlights not working--help needed

It was the dimmer switch. Headlights are now working. Now I just need to figure out why my front left turn signal comes on when I hit the brakes. Turn signals work fine. Any suggestions? Maybe cleaning the sockets and bulbs?

Bad grounds....All kinds of uuexplainable stuff happens when you have a bad ground somewhere. Ground all of your light sockets.
