Odd taste. Ghetto fabulous wheels and cut dash without having the old holes completely hidden. I wonder if it has speakers in the doors too.

Re: cool extended cab 72 - not mine
There are a lot of people out there that buy brand new crew cabs for one reason or another,( kids). I think it fits the bill for someone out there that also likes older trucks like us. For me, its a pretty steep price though, I'd have to look it over real good and then dicker... I like it.

It's almost the length of a crew cab. I like it too.

Too big for hydros, too small for donks..just a poor choice I believe. Cool truck, would look cool on rallies or steelies.

Re: cool extended cab 72 - not mine
It's a good looking truck. Wheels are easy to change.
Is it just me, or does it bother anyone else to have a gauge package truck with aftermarket gauges under the dash? That just grates me the wrong way for some reason (not just these trucks either).

Re: cool extended cab 72 - not mine
Interesting find. I presume it was some sort of coachbuilt conversion?
They bother me from a usability standpoint. Haven't figured out how to put them where you can get a clear line of sight to them.

Re: cool extended cab 72 - not mine
Lots of not what it claims red flags going on there. I don't think it's a period conversion, I don't think it 1 of 10 of anything, it's a one off custom, I doubt you'd see a "Forestry" truck that had super trim, I doubt any coach builder would build such a thing back then on a 5 lug C-10 base, I doubt a Forestry truck would even option AC in '72, If it has a 3rd door it wouldn't have buckets, no coach builder would go to the effort of adding 3 more seating positions in a truck in '72 and then loose one to buckets, and yea wheels are tragic, not an upgrade.

Re: cool extended cab 72 - not mine
I'd almost bet the dash is not cut -- the aftermarket radio uses the existing holes and the removable faceplate isn't quite wide enough to completely cover them.

Re: cool extended cab 72 - not mine
to be fair, he says its supposedly 1 of 10. he doesnt know. Its been restored, and done well. Its really nice. Maybe its not restored to original but its as restored as mine will be and as 1000's of trucks on this forum. restored means different things to different people. yea its not concours, but the engine, paint, body, interior etc etc have all been redone.
If its a one off extended cab the other one for sale by a forum member is selling for around 40k last i checked. If you went and bought a new extended cab whatever it would be 40k plus. I think he's in the ball park. hows the air up there on your pedestals? |

I love it. I think it shows how differant these trucks can be and how each person see's what they want something to look like. The truck may are may not be worth the price only the seller and buyer will know that.
I would love to own one in that condition. The wheels can be sold and replaced. The dash hasn't been cut you can see the rounded edges of the orignal radio cutout and it doesn't matter if it had been. The owner did it the way he wanted it. Very cool truck even with the wheels! ![]()

Re: cool extended cab 72 - not mine
Just a heads up for the guys intent on picking the crap out of the truck and the owners taste. The owner is a member here, and I for one would be ticked to read a thread like this about me and my truck.

Re: cool extended cab 72 - not mine
That IS a period correct couch built truck , I've seen several just like it and I remember this one and a black one from back when I first got on the internet in 99. it wasn't just forestry services that had these built..anyone with the money could order one in just about any configuration they wanted. I almost bought a Scot Bilt crew cab a few years ago at a local auction, the original owner was there and he ordered it because the family liked to go camping, it was a big block AC truck with all the trim.

Re: cool extended cab 72 - not mine
Not picking on the truck, picking on the story. Virtually every crew cab made before 1980 are 2 bench cabs on 8 lug chassis, factory or coach builder. And virtually every utility or government truck is stripped of any kind of luxury or styling options. It's a cool one off truck, is it worth what he's asking, yea maybe. Does the story help it's value, probably not.

Re: cool extended cab 72 - not mine
I do not think extended cabs look quite right BUT I love the extra space and added utility they offer.
If I had the chance to get a truck like this I would try to buy it. |

Re: cool extended cab 72 - not mine
I would love to own it. I buy trucks for what they are...not the stories that accompany them. Regardless of its origin, it most definitely is rare, and looks to be a well executed build. I would not blindly drop 40k on it without a personal inspection first, but I'm sure the owner expects that and has nothing to hide.

Re: cool extended cab 72 - not mine
I thinks its a nice truck done well. to some ones personal taste.
As I get older I appreciate the craftsmanship more then the style. I saw a localy some restored a pacer and I appreciated the quality of the work even though the car was a bad design. Its a treasure to some one. And lastly I would totally rock it ![]() bpatrol |

Re: cool extended cab 72 - not mine
I think it is an interesting truck. Might be hard to find parking for though. Would love to take a ride in it. I think it doesn't look right just because we don't see these every day that's all. If we had seen these all every day since the 70's they would look just fine. I like it anyway. Wonder if it could do a doughnut... HAHA!
If I owned it I don't think I could sell it. I like how it has full windows on the rear panels instead of those wing type conversions. I think it does not matter what I think. me thinks
