1971 parking brake cable
Can anyone share a picture of how the parking brake cable is secured to the parking brake pedal assembly.
I have some parts missing on mine so when the pedal is pushed instead of pulling the cable out of the outer cable housing it pulls the entire housing forward which doesn't set the parking brake.

Here's a picture of my 69 that I took for another thread. I think it clearly shows the clamp you are missing. If you need a wider angle picture showing the clevis pin attaching the inner part of the cable, I'll see hat I can do.

Re: 1971 parking brake cable
Thanks,
I have started to make one similar to that but that shows me exactly what i need to make it prevent the housing sliding forward. Couldn't see the forest for the trees.

Re: 1971 parking brake cable
I finally broke down and bought a factory assembly manual, because I bought a "Basket Case" (literally) the truck was all ready disassembled, and I had to identify where a few things went, but even the manual doesn't show everything, but might help with some of your missing pieces.
Have a good one! Ben |
