Auto Choke Single Barrel questions
I'm looking for some a bit of information from the single barrel carb gurus out there. My 72 C-10 has had many modifications thru the years and one of things I am looking to improve the carb setup on the old 250. My question is back in 1972 would the choke on a 250 six cylinder have been divorced choke? I keep seeing reman carbs out there and they are for "auto choke" setups and I'm not sure of the auto choke versus other options if any thing else was available in 1972.
My manifold has long since its bits and pieces for the lower side of the divorced choke. Currently I have a hand choke cable installed in the cab and it works. Any information provided on history or applications would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. 88Ironduke

Re: Auto Choke Single Barrel questions
I'm pretty certain the 'auto choke' would be the same as a 'divorced choke' installed in '72. I see your dilema.
I guess what you probably want if you're buying a new one and don't care about originality is an electric choke? That way you get everything you need. If it were me, I'd hit the boneyard for at least a divorced choke set-up and maybe an electric choke monojet to rebuild.

Re: Auto Choke Single Barrel questions
I had a 76 years ago and it had a manual choke. I doubt it was factory but the truck was the best bitter cold starting carb vehicle I ever owned. I'd probably keep the manual choke if the truck sees harsh winter temps.

Re: Auto Choke Single Barrel questions
Thanks for input. I'm going to press with a reman carb on the short term when I get the right deal. I'm working the cab body and that's where my funds are at. One thing at a time. For now I'll stay with the hand choke. It has a vacuum choke pull off integral to the carb housing and it seems to work. We will find out.... And while Jersey isn't the coldest place we do get some nice cold weather from time to time.
