Hiya all from NZ.
Hi all.
I have recently shipped from the USA over to New Zealand a 1987 GMC Sierra stepside auto 305 V8. This is my first truck and love it. I recently got it complied to be allowed on NZ roads. So far I have replaced the water pump, thermostat and brakes. It drives great but I am sure in time I will have some questions to ask. I bought it to do up as I drive it over the summer. Any way just wanted to introduce myself and say hi. Cheers........Kameran Last edited by muncher; 11-28-2014 at 12:45 AM. |

You have come to the right place. The amount of knowledge here amazes me. And I thought I knew these trucks.

Looks like a nice truck. I love the smaller Euro plate to fit the US plate area. This is a great site to be on, lot's of info here.

Welcome Kameran!!
Nice red truck with the left hand tiller! You'll have fun overtaking with that! Awesome city you live in. I toured there for 4 hours once on my way to Rotorua. I said I was just lookin' about but the wife said we were lost! Enjoy your summer!! |

Re: Hiya all from NZ.
Rotorua was one of our favourite places. It came in second behind Hotwater Beach!
The unique smell was minor compared to where I worked at the time. I worked in a sour gas plant in Alberta where h2s and so2 where normal smells. Enjoy your summer, especially xmas on the beach!! |

Re: Hiya all from NZ.
Sweet truck. I did a semester in Christchurch a few years ago. Was there for the big earthquake. Do you mind if I ask what it took to get the truck from the US to NZ? I've always wondered what I would need to do to get my GTO over there if I ever came back and decided not to leave, which almost happened a few years ago!! Have fun with your new truck!

Re: Hiya all from NZ.
Thanks again guys.
Orion. This is the 3rd vehicle I have imported to NZ. Not had problems with any of them. I think as long as the vehicle is stock standard and all paper work is in order. No crash repairs, wild modding etc. Then you should be sweet. The main things I have had to change here are the brakes. Always seem to get pulled up on them. No big thing. Bushes here and there too. I have found a great shipping company also a contact who brings in US cars regularly. This helps keep the whole process as stress free as possible. So if you are tempted then I would say go for it! |
