Re: What engine?????
That's a pretty vague question without letting us know what your plans are with your truck. Then I'm sure you'll get up to a 100 or so different opinions on what is best. Why don't you tell us your plan and go from there.

Re: What engine?????
If you going stock 305 v6, if you want a v8 396 or 427, if your going diesel 5.9 cummins, if you want a 6 cylinder either a chevy 292 or gmc 270. Please go with something other then the way to common and boring 350...do something unique.

Re: What engine?????
I would stay with a small block or go to an LS based eng. Unless you are going to run HUGE cubic inches (500 + ) then a big block is just not worth messing with. You can get the same HP with alot less wieght
Just My opinion

Re: What engine?????
LSX is my choice. I just built a 79 camaro 2 years ago and it has a mild built 350. Now I am building a 65 SWB putting a 5.3 with 4l60e in it. The camaro cost as much or more to build as the 5.3 conversion. But the 5.3 with start and run like a new car and get ok fuel mileage. Where the 350 has a carb and gets poor fuel mileage.

Re: What engine?????
454 would be a great choice...something more unique and cool.
