High Pinion Rear Ends

I'm looking for a high pinion rear end. Does anybody know where I can find one? It doesn't matter what the make or model of truck it comes from because its going to be modified anyway. Thanks in advance!

Not gonna find a high pinion rear axle. Gonna be 110% custom axle when you do. Either be a Dana 44, not a great rear for a full size truck, or a Dana 60, which will be money....

Why?

Doesn't get much more high-pinion than a 2.5ton Rockwell toploader.

Unless your concerned about angles, I think you could shave a 14bolt a bit and call it a day. I've heard the ford 8.8 high pinion is too weak for your rear. What advantage are you looking to gain? The reverse cut caught my eye when I was shopping for a front axle. Dynatrac has info. Their axles were over kill for my purposes. Pricey stuff!

A Chevy powertrain 5.3 LS, 4L70, 241C is being stuffed in a lifted Jeep CJ with a Dana 44 shortened front axle and hopefully a high pinion rear to deal with the driveline angle/clearance.

Low pinion is stronger in the rear and high in the front. You're putting the load on the wrong side of the tooth with an hp rear. Also the oiling issues. And then the cost effectiveness.

Only one i know of is a 9 inch with a aftermarket center.

Great help everyone! It looks like the 9" is the best option with the Currie center section. It will be easy to shorten and go with disc brakes.

True hi 9 is the only one that uses a 9 inch gear set the rest you find use a 8.8.The 9 inch gear set is stronger is why you want it.And what size tires are you going to run on it?The np241 is good around 37s before it gives up.So if you want bigger tires or a hardcore off roader look in to a np205 or dana 300.The dana 300 is easier to flip so which side drop don't matter.

The Jeep will be running 35" tires. The 241 will have some Dodge parts and some Chevy parts and will be a passenger side drop.

You should be fine then, as long as you aren't trying to run stupid power.

A 241 is a helluva case and isn't good for up to 37s. It's fine on 42s. Just don't land on a rock with it. A dodge gm 241 hybrid is an excellent tcase with a much more useful ratio than a 205 or 300.

I have seen mall crawlers with 40s or bigger run a 241,And i have seen a big block mud racer blow one apart on 38.5 boggers.Every case has it limits before it blows.

Seen 241s pop twice on 35s before my buddy Rob stepped up to NP205.
