frame rivets
what is the best way to remove spring hangers and original hardware from frame? I ground down a rivet but not sure that is the way to go.
Thanks |

Re: frame rivets
Yes, you can grind them down then using a punch and bfh drive them out of the frame. Drill through the center of the rivet if necessary to help relieve stress or tension of the rivet to the frame.

Re: frame rivets
It also helps if you have a friend with a plasma cutter. Cut them rivets like butter for me. Haha
I did the grinding for a few but did not like all the dust but it does work

Re: frame rivets
I've been grinding them down as I have a less than stellar air chisel. As long as you are not in a hurry, it's not bad. I have a 40-grit and 80-grit wheel. The 40 will chew through the head in a hurry but makes me nervous around the frame. I then use a punch and hammer to get the rest out. For some stubborn rivets I'll drill them out.
