1968 VIN #1 truck on hemmings

This is pretty cool. The ad says this is the #1 truck out of the Missouri plant. It is a CST with buddy buckets and AC. It also lists the panoramic cab, which seems like a carryover from 1967.

The money may not be crazy if your into history, it looks like it is something to talk about. In the 80's Dodge made a convert Dakota for a couple of years, I had the 1st model of the second year and there wasn't but a couple hundred of them[it didn't help its price at all, but it was fun to talk about.

Interesting it doesn't list buddy buckets either, another 67 thing. They were included in CST package

Hey, Jim. I always enjoy reading your posts. I have a read a ton of them over in the paint and body section. I do think history like that is neat. There must be something wrong with me, though. I seem to see a different truck I want every day. Merry Christmas!

Were they usually listed separately in 1968?

Re: 1968 VIN #1 truck on hemmings

Bucket seats were an option after 67 in CST's and optional with any other trim package in any year

Thumbs up Re: 1968 VIN #1 truck on hemmings

The add states it has just about all the options for that year. One biggie is it doesn't have are list is the over drive transmission. Cool truck though non the less. $8000.00 Who knows!

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: 1968 VIN #1 truck on hemmings

Chrome front bumper is listed yet is part of the CST package. It's also interesting that the front grill lacks the white face and chrome trim around the hood and front ot the fenders.

Interesting option list for a 68 if it's original.

The A10 "option" carried long into 68 as a manditory option. Its starred as such on almost every 68 build sheet I have seen. Don't think the big window was required until Jan 1 '68 but it makes sense they would build to the reg.

Being part of the 67 CST trim package it may not of be decontented from the CST at the time this truck was built.

Well it isn't maxed out, but then the overdrive manual wasn't considered a luxury option nor was it offered with the L30 327.

The V37KA would be a chromed rear bumper added to a CST trimmed truck.
The front does have the trim holes and either a silver or white grill. Hard to tell from the "quality" pictures.

The SPID to me appears to be an original. Typewriten is very likely legit at this point for any number of reasons.
