Holley 650 problem

I have a 650 carb and it is leaking out of the side of the back fuel bowl… Where the round brassy looking circle is. Anyone know what causes this and if its repairable? I don't know what I'm getting into if I pull the carb apart.

Regarding your original fuel bowl...
The staked in plugs that are leaking are common problem on Holleys, but can easily be fixed with JB weld. I've seen articles that recommend covering all of the staked in plugs with JB weld on brand new carburetors. The JB weld repair can last as long as 10 years.

Hi guys,
New guy here so just thought I would add my 2¢.
If you have never opened a holley to fix, or rebuild one then first you should get two things.
1. A book that explains every piece of the carb, and how to tune it.
2. A second carb like yours to learn on.
Your carb is a single line feed, meaning one line feeds the front bowl, and the tube on the side feeds the second bowl.( The one thats leaking.) The four hex head bolts on the face of the bowls are what holds the bowl to the main body.
Now, that tube on the side has an O ring at both ends. IF YOU DECIDE to tackle this yourself, make sure those O rings get back in there.
I would be pessimistic about using JB weld in a carb, ethanol will eat that stuff up.
Like I said, get a book, gain knowledge, and good luck.
Oh, and obviously you will need a gasket kit

I had a problem before with the fear fuel bowl leaking which was fixed by adjusting the float and tightening up the 4 long screws that hold the bowl in place. I don't recall there being a gasket or o ring involved with the staked in plug. That is the only problem that I have noticed. Now, if everything fills up with fuel and it leaks beyond the staked in plug… I may just replace it.


The truck hasn't beed driven in 8 months or so and I never use ethanol fuel. (just a little background that may lead to some insight).

I would love to avoid jb welding up the carb but if that is the only solution to make this particular carb work, then I will give it a whirl.

Does anyone know for sure if this has a gasket or oring that could have failed?
