Re: tow hooks crazy money
Every time I see these hooks selling for $400 or more I laugh. I just think it's ridiculous. But to each his own!

They might not be crazy money forever. I read that they are in the works of reproducing these.

Re: tow hooks crazy money
It doesn't bother me that someone is willing to spend that much for tow hooks but it seems that EBay tends to set the price for something once it sells. Let's say they go for 750.00, from now on that's what everyone is going to think there's should sell for.

Re: tow hooks crazy money
I'll be the test for this theory. I'll post mine this weekend and we will see what they go for. My feebay name and screen name here are the same so I'll be easy to find. Lol Wish me and 29OD1 good luck on the sale of our combined set.

Re: tow hooks crazy money
I kind of hope they don't reproduce these, then they will be like any other part and I think it will loose the coolness factor, because you can get a pair for your self in a catalog.

Re: tow hooks crazy money
Wow! That is a lot of money. However, for those watching the availability of these dwindle at an exponential rate, it is not surprising that the price is rising to assanine levels. These hooks just don't come around as often as they once did. However, even if they reproduce these, I don't think the originals will become cheap. They just don't exist in high numbers. And there are plenty of people who are very picky as to keep their builds all OEM. When the AM/FM radios were reproduced, the price for originals did not go down. If a buyer has his/her her heart set on what they want, he/she will pay what it takes to get it. The demand that has driven the price up to the extent to which it has gone up has not been due to casual interest, but that instead, the interest of diehard OEM restorers.

Re: tow hooks crazy money
These have been high for a very long time. They've been going for $3-400+ for at least the 10 years I've been hanging around here.

Plus At that kind of money? If a friend needed pulled out of a ditch and you had these high dollar towhooks on a truck. I guess you would have to consider the cost of paying for a tow truck to help your friend out. Because what if you used a towhook and it got a ding or, OMG... it broke?!?!? A tow truck would have been cheaper. I will definitely start watching for them on parts trucks from now on.

Re: tow hooks crazy money
I wonder if someone thinks they may be 72 only hooks? They are gorgeous hooks.

Re: tow hooks crazy money
A lot of "young guns" talking mean to this guy about the asking price on FB. I felt sorry for him trying to defend himself. The Admins on the site should have banned them. It happens too often on there.
I don't care if you've bought a truck with X, Y or Z for $100 don't bash the stuff I'm selling. Poor guy! Anyway... he's gonna laugh all the way to the bank! LOL im not sure why the admins didnt do anything. it was getting pretty bad on there. i asked on there and ill ask on here as well, what makes them so valuable aside from the demand for them? are they that hard to find? |

Re: tow hooks crazy money
The only time I have ever had to have my truck towed was when I totaled it. I am a cheap ol dude so I am never going to spend that on something I will never use. But if I see some in the junk yard I am snagging them and selling them here for much cheaper than $400. Pay it forward! Maybe someone needs them for a MECUM resto sale BWAHAHA!

Isn't it the 72 only hooks that are valuable, the ones that both point the same direction?
