what's the empty guage spot to the left of the oil pressure guage for/

I always wondered what the empty guage spot to the left of the oil pressure guage was for. I know the top middle guage spot is for an optional tach. What is the one to the left of the oil pressure for?

vaccume gauge is only for big trucks not 1/2 or 3/4 ton trucks

Yes its for the vacuum gauge. Here is a pic of the tach dash I am installing in my truck and it has the vacuum gauge and speed warning as well.

I think there is an air pressure gauge for the biggest trucks also.

Another option some have used is to install the newer square body 12 volt quartz clock in that position. I plan on that when I find a decent looking clock. Do a search for " clock install " or such. Should bring up several threads.

Here's the one I built with a clock. To me it's more useful than the vacuum or air pressure gauges.

Good lookin' panel firstowner! If I didn't have an almost original truck I would use it the space for a boost guage !

Anyone know if the vacuum gauge shows on the SPID as a separate option? My '70 K5 shows Option No. 4Z53BQ AMMETER-OIL-TEMP GA and has a 5K tach and a vacuum gauge. The K5 was a junk yard dog, so who knows if it is factory or not.

That's just the upgrade from idiot lights to gauges for oil pressure, amps and temp. Your truck was not built with tach or vacuum. But, they are really nice to have.

That's where your Dakota Digital dash displays engine coolant temp.

I bought a tach cluster out of a larger truck, like maybe C30 or such. It had an air pressure gauge on it that I assumed was for air brakes?

I have a gauge cluster off a C30 with an air pressure gauge, sure would like to replace the air pressure gauge with a vacuum gauge.
