1963 c10 short fleet has rusted windshield

I am considering buying this truck but not sure on the cab rust on how difficult it is to repair and get parts for. The guy selling the truck wants 1800 obo for the truck, body looks to be in pretty nice shape. The windshield area up top is shot , has no windshield in it at the moment , any advise on this truck would be appreciated, truck has not ran since 96, has a 283 with 4 speed on the floor.

I have read a few people asking this question and reading the replies, they always seem to revert to look for a better cab candidate, because to fix it you are going to have to fabricate stuff. nothing is repop for any of that. I don't have any personal experience so take it for what it is worth. Just read it on this forum

It depends on where the rust is. If it is in the eyebrow flat area where you can cut square flat pieces it is easy to fix. If it is in any of the seams or creases of the a pillar or the top of the windshield flange you will have to make all the from scratch.

Do you have a picture of the rust it will help.

I am not sure how to post pictures here, also I think I am going to pass on the truck, I am not wanting to replace the whole cab, so will wait for a better truck to start with. Looking at the pictures he sent me the entire windshield lip is rusted out across the top along with about 2" of the inside headliner area, looks pretty bad.

Re: 1963 c10 short fleet has rusted windshield

I am thinking since the guy dropped the price to 1300 I am more inclined to buy the thing, everything else looks in good condition, guess I will have to look for a rust free window frame area to chop the top off for a donor panel, Does anyone have any pictures of the 60-63 patch panel that you can buy off LMC truck.

looks like lmc truck has the same panel also, I read on here that some people are opting to chopping the whole roof off and welding on a donor that is in good condition, depending on how bad the old one is, anyone have any good info if you have done this.

Sounds like a $500-1000 truck with that rust. That's extensive to repair and not for the faint of heart. Cab swap, or top half swap can be easier depending on how bad it is. If that's rusted out, there may be more hidden rust so check it out very carefully. If the bed and front clip are MINT shape then pay a $1000. If anymore rust then try and go lower. The reason nobody has bought it is because of the rust most likely lol
