Gas Tank Carpet

My old tank carpet was just that old and nasty. I kept the grommets and screws . I straightened the grommets but need some tips installing them in the replacement carpet. Thanks in advance. 69 CST 396

Re: Gas Tank Carpet

I have been using velcro tape to hold the carpet in place. Picture attached.

Re: Gas Tank Carpet

Below is a link to a thread where installing aftermarket tank carpet was discussed. It may help answer your question (or add to your frustration). Unfortunately, it sounds like the aftermarket stuff does not install like the original does.

Re: Gas Tank Carpet

Here is a link showing what it should look like, as well as others' ideas on how to modify or change the way the carpet is installed for a good look.
