springs or spindles???
Here is my question. I am lowering the rear of my 69 gmc LWB 4" with coils and may relocate the shocks and get an adjustable panhard bar.
In the front I was wondering if I should go with drop spindles or drop springs. I heard that the springs from the 73-87 will fit also, so regardless if I change my front suspension to a newer style or not I should be fine. But will I still be able to get the front aligned after???

On a spring drop only (front), you should stay with no more that 2" to keep geometry right on. There are guys running 3 " drop springs on the front, or cut coils(mine) & I beleive I have seen 4" springs listed......the spindle is the better way to go If you do a 2 1/2" spindle, you can add up to a 2" spring & have a really nice drop without alignment problems. Good luck, crazyL

Spindle is a much better choice as you will use it with springs or bags at a later date!

I would have to agree about the fact that spindles are much better.
I guess it was more or a cost thing, since anything I decide to do will be a minimum X2 in price since I Live in Canada, a pair of springs is about 200-300$ where in the US it's about 99$ so figure drop spindles are about 250$ US wich translates into at least 500$. So by going with springs right now I can get the whole truck lowered along with an adjustable panhard bar and possibly relocate the shocks ( rear ) for the same price. So more bang for the buck. Besides at this point the truck will mostly be used on occasion when I am in town ( couple times a week during summer months). So as long as I can get the alignment correct then I'm happy.

On this same topic
Does anyone know the difference between the fron coils on the 67-72 trucks and the 73-87 trucks, and can I use one on the other.

Now I KNOW that I can get one of the kits available from the fine suppliers on this forum. I have started goign through each link one by one looking for a kit. Found a couple if them now to compare them and figure what will be cheaper for shipping. Since I live in Canada I have to pay that god D@mn duty too. If any of the suppliers read this and want to pm me go for it. THis is what I want. 2" front drop coils 4" rear drop coils adjustable panhard bar ( possibly) rear shock relocators ( do you think it is neccessary??) Shocks I can buy around here so I don't pay extra shipping and extra duty and what not. Thanks once again for all the info from everyone, hope to get a couple of pm's
