In front of the rear bumper, under the bed. You're probably missing the holder.

Re: 1970 fleetside spare tire?

It's a bar about 2 or 3 inches wide riveted between the frame rails, rear of the axle. If the tank has been relocated to the rear, the bar has been cut out.

I've got the whole setup out of my '67 but I'm in the rack with the flu. I'll try and get you some photos tomorrow.

Re: 1970 fleetside spare tire?

Hey....if you need one, there may be someone on here that's selling one. If not, drop me a message and I will look for one in Southern California for ya. There's a number of guys here that dismantle those trucks close to me.

Always try Craigslist. Many guys will even send it by mail. Like I said.....I know lots of people selling parts of dismantled trucks.

Mount it to the front bumper and save the bed space.

Re: 1970 fleetside spare tire?

Mine was missing everything under the bed, but I bought all the parts. I think under the bed is a much cleaner look, for something that is rarely used, but necessary. But be warned, it is a ***** to remove and replace without getting dirty.

Re: 1970 fleetside spare tire?

These are the parts. The black painted piece should already be on your truck.

Re: 1970 fleetside spare tire?

Hey....if you need parts I am going to visit a dismantler this weekend. If he has the parts, should I pick them up for you? If so, do need everything.....the bracket and the bolts? Do you need the stuff that bolts onto the frame also?

If I can get them for CHEAP, it may be worth the postage. This guy says he wants to get rid of all the stuff he has and move back east. If you wanted them and will pay for the shipping (no....I don't know how much it will be) I will try and get the parts for free.

Re: 1970 fleetside spare tire?

I plan on installing a cable hoist for the spare like in the newer trucks much simpler to get it up and down mounts with two bolts. 5 bucks at my local pull a part
